University of Rochester
Founded nearly a century ago, the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is made up of many parts, all devoted to the same three goals:
• Providing highly advanced medical care
• Discovering cures for the world's most challenging diseases
• Educating the doctors, dentists and nurses of tomorrow
Our healthcare delivery network, UR Medicine, is anchored by Strong Memorial Hospital – an 886-bed, University-owned teaching hospital that serves as a Level One Regional Trauma and Burn Center and home to Western New York’s only cardiac transplant program. Our robust teaching and research programs transform the patient experience with fresh ideas and approaches steeped in disciplined science and help grow the next generation of healthcare providers and pioneers. At URMC, we honor and celebrate those who are called to care because ultimately, it’s our people who take care of those we serve.
URMC Vision
URMC is an integral part of the University of Rochester family, and we share the University’s mission: to learn, discover, heal, create – and make the world ever better. The University’s vision is to continue to frame and solve the greatest challenges of the future and create a welcoming, respectful environment where all can pursue and achieve their highest objectives for themselves, their community and the world. Steeped in Rochester’s rich history of social justice and entrepreneurial spirit, the University of Rochester will always be an inclusive, equitable, sustainable and responsive organization at every level.
