This success comes to us through two primary areas of business – clinical laboratories and transfusion medicine.
Clinical laboratory testing plays a vital role in the detection, diagnosis and monitoring of diseases before they put lives at risk. The tests focus on the molecular and cellular elements of blood and other body fluids for the diagnosis and management of illness. OCD’s patented dry-slide chemistry technology and systems are used in stat and random access in vitro diagnostic testing. Its enhanced chemiluminescence technology and systems offering immunoassay testing capabilities across menu categories of thyroid function, reproductive endocrinology, cardiology, anemia, metabolism, oncology and infectious diseases.
Our second business area is transfusion medicine. We have been a global leader in transfusion medicine for nearly 70 years. Our systems and products are among the most trusted in the world to ensure patient-donor compatibility and helping to protect the safety of the world’s blood supply by screening for disease such as AIDS, hepatitis and Chagas disease.
OCD was recently acquired by the Carlyle Group, a highly respected global asset management company, as an independent, freestanding company. With new leadership and accelerated investment in research and development, OCD is well positioned for growth as a leading player in the global diagnostics market, tapping into rising demand for sophisticated medical diagnostic products and services worldwide.
