Since opening our flagship location in Salem, NH in 1984, Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network (NRHN) has added three more acute rehabilitation hospitals located in Nashua, Portsmouth and Manchester, NH. Additionally, our network includes over 20 outpatient centers, a home care division, a sports medicine division, an outpatient pediatric division and many other services for those in need of rehabilitation.
The leader of that effort, Howard Gardner, MD, was an Army Neurosurgeon who saw, first hand, the benefits physical rehabilitation offered wounded soldiers. Dr. Gardner returned to the Merrimack Valley and established a neuroscience practice, New England Neurological Associates. Dr. Gardner and his associates set out to build the first free-standing Acute Rehabilitation Hospital in New Hampshire.
