North Wasco County School District 21
North Wasco County School District's mission is to graduate all students to be college and career ready; challenging, inspiring, and empowering them to be healthy and productive citizens.
The district serves approx. 3,000 students in Kindergarten through grade 12. Three elementary schools serve grades K-5; grades 6-8 are located at The Dalles Middle School. The Dalles High School serves grades 9-12 and belongs to the 5A-4 Intermountain Conference as part of the Oregon Schools Activities Association. The district also supervises two charter schools. Wahtonka Community School serves 50 students in grades 9-12 and Mosier Community School serves approximately 220 students in grades K-8.
The district is organized with a seven-member elected board of directors and a board-appointed budget committee. The district employs about 400 teachers, counselors, administrators and support staff. A strong connection with Columbia Gorge ESD and Columbia Gorge Community College exists to support an effective educational environment. District 21 collaborates with many strong local Community Partners to develop a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning.
