Mainstay Life Services is an extraordinary organization with a very distinctive mission: to provide life-long, high-quality support services, ensuring that people with developmental disabilities lead fulfilling lives and realize their vision of a desirable future. For over 50 years, Mainstay has provided residential and related supports to children and adults, and their families, with developmental disabilities. Currently, the organization is supporting more than 330 people in Allegheny County and the surrounding areas including Beaver, Washington and Westmoreland Counties through 24-hour licensed homes, unlicensed homes, supported living, home and community supports, life sharing, behavioral supports, and employment services.

Mainstay owns and operates 39 community homes, and also supports people residing in their own apartments. Several community homes are specially designed for people with behavioral health issues, physical disabilities, autism, and diminishing physical capacity and increasing medical needs due to aging. Mainstay also operates eight community homes supporting adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder.

All supports provided are tailored to meet the needs of each person and all levels of developmental disabilities so they can live meaningful and successful lives, while helping them to learn new skills, develop friendships, and give back to their communities. And, as a technology first organization, Mainstay’s employees work alongside the people they support to help increase their independence, to stay fully involved in their communities, and to assist them in obtaining gainful employment. In June 2021, Mainstay was selected as the first Shift Accredited organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mainstay Life Services has been named a Top Workplace by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for the last six consecutive years. This award is based solely on employee feedback and uniquely measures 15 drivers that are critical to the success of any organization including alignment, execution and connection. In 2021, Mainstay was honored with its first national Top Workplace award.
