About us

With headquarters in Boise, Idaho, and an employee base of approximately 2,000 people, Idaho Power is an electric utility engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, sale and purchase of electric energy.

Founded in 1916, Idaho Power was created when five companies combined assets, including water rights and hydroelectric facilities on the Snake River. From that day forward, we’ve worked hard each day to bring energy to the communities we serve. We do it safely and proudly, and our customers rest easier knowing we are always there. Idaho Power is proud to offer its customers reliable, responsible, fair-priced service.

The bulk of our generating ability comes from our 17 hydroelectric power plants and we are one of the nation's few investor-owned utilities with a significant hydroelectric generating base.
