Emerald Downs opened its doors June 20, 1996, replacing Longacres as the premier Thoroughbred racing facility in the Pacific Northwest. Thoroughbred horse racing has long been known as the sport of kings and has maintained a unique atmosphere in the sports world. With an appeal to all ages, Emerald Downs has fashioned itself to attract young new fans while honoring those horsemen and spectators that continue to share such devotion to this industry. The Grandstand building plays host to both Live Racing, simulcasting and private events with our popular food and beverage services. The long tradition of horse racing continues to excite fans and breed enthusiasm in this sport.
