Clients include Boeing, Disney, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, and Universal Studios, as well as the government. The company's Energy Services division works on energy efficiency projects. The company often teams with energy service companies that conduct energy audits and environmental impact studies. ACCO retrofits plants and other facilities with energy efficient systems. ACCO Engineered Systems was founded in 1934 as Air Conditioning Company (AACO) at a time when air conditioning was a rare luxury. The company first worked as a refrigeration products distributor for General Electric. Following WWII it became a major distributor of Carrier Corporation's air conditioning products. In the early 1950s AACO shifted from being an air conditioning distributor to become a corporation.
